Customer Rating: Summary: PVPers Dream Come True Comment: If you are a PVPer to the core, you'll love this game. It is very fun in that aspect. If however you are into storylines, gorgeous scenery and engrossing quests...Look elsewhere. For PVE, it gets old real quick. It simply lacks depth and is NOT what this game was designed for. It's a PVPer's dream come true! And it's a yawn fest for PVEers.
The public quest mechanic is just plain awesome, but the rewards arent the greatest. Named mobs are all over...Just don't expect any cool loot from them. At the time of my play, the balance was way off. Every one wants to play the evil side (lame) so if you play the good guys, prepare to get your butt handed to you at any given time. Sure you'll squeek in victories here and there...But thats because they were not interested in what ever it was you were taking or busy beating the snot out of you else where. But they'll be back to take what ever it is you got and you'll just have to smile and take it.
Maybe a third race/order might be a good idea? Or balance caps, to say not allow 500 people to register as evil for every 5 for good? Not too hard to do. "We're sorry, the evil to good ratio is at 50/1 on this server. Please try another server or change alignment."
Meh, who knows. I'm done and have moved on to play more my style.
Plain and simple, this is not for the PVEer like me...It's for PVPers.
So for you PVPers, buy it!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: WAR RvR Trumps WOW PvP Comment: Has WoW PvP left you wanting better, more, PvP and generally disappointed in what could have been done? If so, then WAR is a MUST-HAVE game. its characters are varied, solo play is viable yet team play is so much more effective. You need not do a single quest to advance your character, the best rewards are earned through RvR (PvP) conflicts. The GFX are NOT goofy-cartoonish as that other game. PVE has 100's even maybe 1000's of quests but whats the point, stay with WOW if the PVE floats your boat. If it's PVP you're looking for, then join the gamers playing Warhammer-Online, you will NOT be disappointed. Think WoW PVP on STEROIDS... that's WAR's RvR!
Customer Rating: Summary: Warhammer Online Comment: This is a great game. Lots of RvR, PvP, and PvE content. A great guild will help make this game a great success for you. I personally am having a blast, and look forward to many years playing Warhammer Online.
Customer Rating: Summary: Here's an Honest Review... Comment: War is not a *bad* game. In fact, there are a couple of features that Mythic came up with that we will probably see implemented in other games. The problem with WAR is that the developers made it TOO dependant upon the users of the game. Yep, I said it. We, the players, are the weak link in this game.
Players are too spread out across the tiers to allow you to be able find a group AND find a group to fight. Public Quests?... Awesome idea.. when you can find other people. Capture a keep? Big fun... when you can find other people. One saving grace is being able to cue a scenario from anywhere... *BUT* you might wait 15 minutes for it to pop... (no people in your tier)
Here's the next problem. When you can't find other people, there's NOTHING to do. The quests are boring and turn-key. Crafting is absolutley horrible. HORRIBLE! (They should fire the guy at Mythic that designed that part of the game.) It takes WAAAYYY too much time to create even the most simple potion. The auction house stinks... there is NO economy to speak of. In fact, other than buying your mount or abilities, you barely need gold. There are not dungeons in the normal sense. THere are "lairs", but the reset rate is horrible on them.
In other MMORPGs, at least when you couldn't find a group there was something you could go do: play the economic side in the Auction House, go farm equipment in a dungeon with a lowbie guildie, or go farm raw materials for crafting, or craft something cool. Nope, not in War... if a group isn't available to you, you are stuck with kill quests or a simple gather quest. That's it. And it's almost like the quests were added as a hindsight... like "the B team" was in charge of creating them... not much effort put into them... and it shows.
I guess it comes down to this... If you really like MMORPGs, then you will quickly bore with War. If you like the shoot-em-up types of games, then you might like War. War is a "one trick poney." Now... it's VERY good at that one trick (RVR)... but it's only one trick... and you only get to see the trick when a crowd finally gathers.
I love RVR(PVP)and when you can find it in WAR, it's really fun. (I left WOW because WAR promised better PVP. And it delivers... *sometimes.*) But you'll find that the majority of you time spent in War is wandering around looking for a fight or endlessly cueing up scenarios and then waiting for them to pop.
Good ideas:
PVP Lakes
Public Quests
The Tome
Seige engines
PVP centric
Horrible ideas/implementations:
PVP Centric at the cost of all other aspects of the game
Lame quests
NO economy
no crafting in usuable form
HEY MYTHIC!!! We need something to do when Server Population is low!!! (betcha' they don't listen)
Customer Rating: Summary: BEWARE OF USED COPIES Comment: Sorry, this isn't a review of the game. Be aware that used copies that do not include a key code are simply coasters. EA will not give you a key code, I tried. Yes - I should have known better.
